Julia Bush Stewart

Funeral Services for Julia Bush Stewart, 95, of Columbia, SC will be held eleven a.m. Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at the Midlands Christian Church, Lexington, SC with the Pastor Tim Brokaw officiating. Burial will be three p.m. Tuesday at the Barnwell County Memorial Cemetery by the airport in Barnwell SC. The family will be receiving friends from nine-thirty a.m. until the time of service at the church on Tuesday. Mrs. Stewart passed away on Friday, February 17, 2012.

Memorials may be made to the Disabled American Veterans P.O. Box 5317, West Columbia, S.C. 29171 or the Williston Cemetery Fund P.O. Box 367, Williston, S.C. 29853 or to a charity of one’s choice.

Born in her beloved town Ellenton, SC she was a daughter of the late David Council Bush and Josie Bailey Bush. She was a homemaker, registered nurse and was married to the late Gordon Charles Stewart. She was a member of the Midlands Christian Church, the American Legion Auxiliary, the DAR and King’s Daughters. She was very active in the senior programs at Seven Oaks Park Recreation Center and was an avid bridge player. She was formerly of Williston and always had a love for the Ellenton reunions.

Survivors include a daughter, Betty Jo S. (Earle) Toole of Columbia; son, Gordon (Janis) Stewart, Jr. of Hilton Head Island; daughter-in-law, Denni Galasso Stewart of Birmingham, AL; grandchildren, Christen Lee Stewart, E. Bard (Dana) Toole, Stewart C. (Bonnie) Toole, Dara (John) Lowry, David James Stewart, Jr., Drew A. Stewart, Derek M. (Meghan) Stewart and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, David James Stewart; a sister, Gladys Bush Weathersbee; and a brother, Ernest Linwood Bush.

Planning for the Revolve Tour will start soon. The event will be on Saturday 05/05/2012 and will be a day trip to Charlotte, NC.  Look for information soon about costs and RSVP. Firm commitment.will be needed for those wanting to attend.
